Green
Star®
Juicing Tips
From
Doug & Marilyn Polk
Health Ministers
"The Green Star Juicer is the world-wide leader in quality and
quantity of juice. We are experienced Green Star users and recommend
this great juicer to anyone for health insurance. Here are some things
we learned while using the Green Star Juicer. May God bless you with
health and peace." |
- Buy Organic vegetables whenever possible.
- If using commercially grown vegetables, peel them with a potato
peeler to remove pesticide residue.
- Purchase a good chopping knife and block.
- Chop off heads and ends of carrots. Chop off any green at the top of
carrot.
- Peel off any deep disease spots on carrots.
- Use the sharp end of potato peeler to dig out cracks in carrots.
- Split large carrots or any carrots that already have splits that run
the length of the carrot.
- If using organic carrots that have no splits or diseased areas just
rinse in running water.
- Have a juicing partner if possible; one cutting and splitting, the
other juicing.
- For organic spinach or other leafy vegetables, just push down into
chute in small bunches.
- For commercial leafy vegetables, spray with vegetable wash, rinse,
sling dry and deposit in chute.
- If adding beets, peel commercial ones, then quarter and insert in
chute at intervals.
- Our favorite blend is 20 lbs of carrots, one medium large beet, one
bunch of organic spinach.
- Use your hand-held sieve to remove foam and any pulp that passed
through the fine screen.
- Pour filtered juice into bowl, or pour directly into 8-ounce canning
jars, filling to the brim.
- Tightly cap the jars and insert into the refrigerator; they will
keep for 3-5 days.
- If freezing the juice in canning jars, allow a small amount of space
at the top for expansion.
- Frozen juice can last for several weeks but must be drank shortly
after opening.
- Do Not put carrot pulp into the sink disposal; it may clog your
drain.
- Carrot pulp makes great garden compost, but is not good for much
else unless you add to it.
- Clean the juicer with cold running water and the nylon and stainless
steel brushes.
- Clean the fine screen by putting it under running water and using
the SS brush on the under side of the screen. By brushing the underside
of the screen, the top of the screen is also cleaned. Each part of the
screen can be cleaned this way, then finish with brushing the outside of
the screen.
- Clean the twin gears with the stainless steel brush while running
water over it.
- Clean the rest of the juicer with the nylon brush and cold, running
water or sprayer.
- Using your sprayer, clean the face of the juicer without getting
water into the motor.
- Every three months or so you may want to soak your stained juicer
parts in bleach or vinegar or baking soda.
- You can mix your carrot juice with BarleyMax® for a great tasting
combination drink. Just take about three swallows of the carrot juice
then put one heaping teaspoon of BarleyMax in it and put the cap on and
shake it for about a minute. It tastes great; sort of like chocolate
milk!
- Some like to pump the air out of their juice jars with a
"Pump-N-Seal" device or "Food Saver" tool. This will make the juice last
even longer.
- The great advantage to the Green Star Juicer is that you don't have
to juice but twice a week, instead of every day with cheap, spinning
basket juicers. And GS juice is at least twice as nutritious as any
other juicer's juice.
